**NEXT STRIKE IS 1PM ON FEBRUARY 1ST AT CITY HALL (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO)**

Join us to learn about and get involved in the upcoming January 11th youth Climate Strike at the Manitoba Legislative Building!

When: Monday January 7th, 6-8pm

Where: The HIVE at the University of Winnipeg (515 Portage Ave)

What: The youth Climate Strike movement was started by Greta Thunberg, a 15 year old from Sweden (Watch Greta's impactful TEDtalk).  Winnipeg youth successfully organized a Climate Strike on December 7th 2018, when they marched from school to Liberal MP Jim Carr's office to deliver a petition they'd developed which insists that the Canadian government take stronger climate action to secure a livable climate for future generations (Read media coverage of Winnipeg youths' Climate Strike here).  Winnipeg kids aren't the only ones joining Greta; other Canadian youth have been Climate Striking, some every Friday all school year long, joining youth from around the world doing the same.  In Australia, tens of thousands of students have joined in.

The next global Climate Strike action is being planned for January 11th (Check out the Climate Strike movement's website here) and Winnipeg youth are joining in again.  The movement is entirely youth-led, but the Winnipeg group has requested that MEJC use its platform to amplify their message to generate interest and support.  The youth are planning a meeting on January 7th to finalize details for their January 11th action.  They invite all other youths who are interested to get involved, and parents who'd like to know more, to attend.

We will update this webpage as soon as we have more information about the exact time and location of the January 7th meeting.
