Canvass at USWA Roll Call on September 4th!

Join us in sparking up conversations about energy and environmental justice in our community! Whether you're an experienced canvasser or it's your first time, your time and energy are incredibly valuable in bringing energy justice front and centre in Manitoba. Meet us September 4th, 5th or 6th at UWSA Roll to volunteer as a canvasser!

We will be talking to folks about the Line 3 pipeline, which is coming to Manitoba this summer, and why we should be concerned and use our power as citizens to fight against this project. For more information on Line 3, see our Line 3 info sheets. We will review all the information and talking points to get your comfortable before you go out on your own.

What: Community canvass

When: September 4th 2018, 11am-2pm

Where: University of Winnipeg front lawn

To Bring: Water, sunscreen, and your passion for energy justice!

What is canvassing, and why do we do it?

As a community-led group, a critical part of the work we do as MEJC is having conversations with communities about energy development and use in the province, and how we can collectively shape our energy future. From hydropower to oil and gas development, we are working to support communities and ecosystems that are bearing the greatest burden of energy projects, and to understand the choices we have to lessen the impacts of these developments. The work hinges on the recognition that we, citizens of Manitoba and Canada, have the power to influence these critical decisions. Community outreach and canvassing is an important opportunity to have these conversations and reach new citizen groups.

Our goal: To grow our community of like-minded people in order to amplify the voices of concerned citizens and build our collective power for future actions.

Your mission: Join our canvass team to have as many personal conversations as possible, wherein we get folks signed up and get to know about future opportunities to be involved.

About UWSA Roll Call: Roll Call is a celebration on the front lawn of the University of Winnipeg downtown campus, with free food from local restaurants, live music, tabling fair, art and fun activities, and craft beer and spirits at a beer garden. The UWSA aims to curate an event that represents the student body and the campus community, and supports local businesses, creating an event that is fun, accessible, and representative of the work of the UWSA.
